Hi all,

My 7yr old has a 2DS with Tomogachi pre installed. Tonight she has gone to play and the game is missing? She has a message come up about write protection being enabled on the SD card and the software can't be displayed. We've tried removing the card and moving the switch but it isn't making any difference. Help!

It's possible the SD card has failed. Try connecting it to a computer and see if you can copy the contents to a new SD card, or back to the old one. If the SD card is unreadable you can redownload the game from the eShop, but all her progress will be lost.

Here's what I would be trying;

  1. Turn the system off completely. Ensure that the Sleep Mode switch is pushed all the way to the left. You should not see any orange colour (this is displayed when the switch is turned on). Hold the Power Button for about 10 seconds, it should turn off. Power back on and see if the games reappear.
  2. Make sure your SD card's "switch" is in the "unlocked" position.
  3. Put the SD card in a computer and see if it works. The SD card might've become "corrupted". If so, it probably wont load properly on your computer or it'll load but all your files will be missing. If this is the case, you should reformat the card. That means you'll lose all data on that card, but it will most likely start working again (assuming the card isn't completely screwed. Cheaper cards can tend to just break). To reformat the card, the easiest way is to load it into your computer, right click on the SD Card icon and select "Format Drive".
  4. Before anything, you might want to call Nintendo Support. They're actually really good and easy to deal with. Check out the website too - http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/landing/p/430
Good luck! Let us know how you get on.
