Switch Better way to join friends in Uno?

Me and a few friends just bought Uno for Switch this evening. We were only able to join each other after 20 minutes of joining and quitting over and over till we all were placed into the game one of us was hosting without any other random people joining.

wow. well i don't have a Switch yet, but i sure do hate to hear that. Hopefully it gets cleared up

Further research revealed the Switch has no built-in system for inviting friends to games, so it's up to devs put one in their software themselves.
