Did you purchase an N64 on impulse or did you plan to buy one beforehand?

I bought my Nintendo 64 brand new from a specialized game store. I was on the fence of purchasing one since I already owned a Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation. However, when I saw the demo of Super Mario 64 running at the shop, that made me want to buy one immediately. It was pretty much an impulse purchase for me.

Did you already intend to purchase an N64 beforehand, setting money aside to get the console, or did you pick one up on impulse?

I was a kid at the time? Middle School. My parents bought it for me in 1998 as a Xmas gift, with my own TV with a built in DVD player (for that ERA, DVD players built in were SWAG yo)

I remember playing the heck out of it. Letting myself get lost in games - platformers, zeldas, shooters, didn't matter. Friends even loved it, so we had parties.

But if I had to make the purchase itself, today, in my own shoes? I would have planned. I'm not an impulse buyer.
