Switch Family Plan Question...

My dad has been encouraging me to get a Switch and then a family plan with my friend so we both have Online services. But my question is about the Nintendo eShop. I'm planning to merge mine with my 3DS, he already has his own eshop account. When we do the family plan will it merge the 2 separate eshop accounts into one with combined funds, or can we keep them separate from each other? information on How family plans work would also be appreciated!

Good question, the Online Service is a very tricky deal. Ok, don't quote me on this but i have a family plan, and im pretty sure the money accounts are separated. Every time i click on Eshop, it asks which account? There are 3 of us on one Switch. Im not 100% sure, so please research but i hope this helped.
