Nintendo's Game Boy Advance is a very impressive 16-bit handheld. It's only real rival in terms of performance was SNK's Neo Geo Pocket/Color during that time period. However, the GBA was a bit more powerful with a higher resolution, more colors on screen and a superior sound chip.
Needless to say, the Pocket Color disappeared from the market even though it had a decent games library. The GBA went on to become the handheld of choice for just about anyone that wanted to game on the go. What I particularly like about the GBA is it's fantastic library of games and that many still hold up well to this very day.
A few games that come to mind are Gunstar Super Heroes, Mega Man Z series, Castlevania series, Sonic DX and F-Zero: Maximum Velocity.
What are your thoughts on the matter?
