Help Identifying Vintage Nintendo Art

Hello all,

I have had in my closet for about 16 or more years some Mario art that I cannot seem to identify. Could anyone give me any insight as to what this is? I tried a google image search, but I came up with nothing. The frame is cardboard but there is a glass covering over the artwork.

I've never seen anything remotely similar to this. But the artwork is definitely from Nintendo of America, not Japan.

This looks super familiar, I don't know why. How big is the artwork? Like paper size or more like a poster? I'm wondering if it came with a specifc mario game (kind of like cover art), or if it had to have been bought on its own.
