Switch Joycon not connecting

Hello,

I am currently having issues with connecting a joycon. For what ever reason it uses my Switch console to charge instead of connecting. When looking on the controller settings it shows the right being connected to the console while the left being I'm hand held mode with a charging symbol on the bottom. I know it is charging from the console because if I take it out it will stop charging.

I would appreciate any tips or advice!

Do both Joy-Cons work when you are in handheld mode?

Try resetting the Joy-Con. There's a small button located between the SL and SR buttons (on the rail side where it slides into the console). Press and hold this button for a few seconds to reset.

I have had more problems with my 4 joy cons than all my controllers I've ever had. Having said that, what worked for me comes from Nintendo themselves: there is a way to clean them using alcohol. using a Q tip, clean under the thumb/directional control as best you can. It helps me a lot.
