Switch License for a U-shaped fitness controller registered, maybe to be launched for NX?

A few pics of a U-shaped controller have started to show up online in the past days. Apparently, it's a fitness controller, which also has a grip you can use along with it.
It's been supposed it's for the Wii U, but, considering it's near the end of its natural life cycle, I say it may be likely it's going to be release with NX, maybe with a new version of Wii Fit or something (not a really exciting idea, but it's still very likely to happen).
What's your take on it?

It looks like it'll either be heavy or fragile.

Nintendo puts out 1000 patents a years and uses maybe 1 of them. If this was to be used then just be for a specific game or type of game or for something not really for games.

This patent was back in 2014, and was part of the QoL initiative.
