I want to take a moment to remind the world about a little game called Metal Storm, put out by Irem. The NES certainly had it's shar of fantastic, timeless, titles that captivate and wow. But Metal storm really upped the ante in ways that made it appear more like a Super Nintendo game, several years before 16 bit gaming was even a thing.

You play as a mech fighting off an alien invasion. The first thing you're going to notice is the graphics are stellar. They gave tons of frames to each motion making it smoother than even some of the SNES games that would come later. They also managed to add several layers of paralax scrolling to a console that did not natively support it.

The music is really well composed though you wont find much in the way of themes you'll be humming later.

The boss battles are huge and each one is different.

You have to play this game if you missed it the first time?
