Nintendo 64 N64 on a new TV

I just got a refurbished n64 and don’t know much about classic consoles. I hooked it up to a newer tv (not a crt) and it seems to work fine. Is playing a n64 on a newer tv have any bad side affects on the console or am I just being overly worried?

If it works fine, you should be good. Nothing to worry about like screen burn-in or other issues, unless it's an old TV.

Another quick thing that I am confused about, should I leave the n64 cartridge in the system while not playing or should I take it out after I am done playing?

There is no harm in leaving the cartridge in the system, unless you plan on transporting it.

N64 is so old now that almost any tv will probably support it.
