Nintendo Published games for 1st year...
Keep in mind that Nintendo may, or may NOT, have actually developed any of these games. However, they did publish them all. There is a big difference between developing and publishing. However, for the sake of the list, I'm going to count the 'Published' titles, to show what effort Nintendo put into their consoles during the first full year, and for the immediate holiday afterwards. Enjoy.
All games listed are developed, and published, by Nintendo, unless otherwise specified. Also, all games are the North American releases. European and Japanese release dates aren't counted in these release windows. And yes, there are some games that released in Japan or Europe in these windows, but didn't make the American release until a month, or more, later, thus, missing the actual 1yr or 2nd Christmas 'deadline' for this list.

So, to break it down...
NES -
27 total - by 1st Year Anniversary
27 total - by 2nd Christmas
SNES -
9 total - by 1st Year Anniversary
12 total - by 2nd Christmas
N64 -
10 total - by 1st Year Anniversary
13 total - by 2nd Christmas
Gamecube -
13 total - by 1st Year Anniversary
13 total - by 2nd Christmas
Wii -
16 total - by 1st Year Anniversary
16 total - by 2nd Christmas
Wii U -
13 total - by 1st Year Anniversary
14 total - by 2nd Christmas
Total Average -
14.67 Average - by 1st Year Anniversary
15.83 Average - by 2nd Christmas
So, in terms of the Wii U, Nintendo is about on par with it's own support for the system, as they are with their support of previous systems. Actually, if you take away the large NES 1st year numbers, and you get an average of 12.2 games by the first year anniversary. So yeah, the Wii U is on par in terms of support by Nintendo. However, there were some titles that were delayed and pushed back, outside of this 1yr/2nd Christmas window. So that'sNow, they just need to keep increasing the 3rd Party support.
Also, if I average out the total number of games published by Nintendo for the lift of the consoles...
71 - NES
48 - SNES
48 - N64
55 - Gamecube
58 and counting - Wii
24 and counting - Wii U
If I don't count the Wii U, then the average total Published titles comes to 56. So it's a safe to assume that the Wii U will see about 56 games published by Nintendo on the system. Of course, if you take away the large NES numbers, again, that average drops to 52.25. Still in the same ballpark of each other. So I'm going to guess that the Wii U will see at least 56+ titles published by Nintendo before the console is done. And that's only retail titles. That's not even counting the eShop titles (non-retail and non-virtual console titles)

I was just reading some articles about the support for Nintendo systems. So I thought that I'd see what Nintendo's support of their own systems are. Actually, I expect Nintendo to support the Wii U more, in the end, than they did the Wii. Simply because 1), the Wii U is so far better than the Wii, to me, and 2), Nintendo knows that they need to support the Wii U more, since it's sales numbers aren't going to be as high.
Either way, hope you enjoyed this info. I could add in the handhelds, but I'll do that some other time. I was just focusing on the consoles this time. But I'll try to add the handheld numbers later.
