WOW, what an impressive list!

I felt like I was scouring down a list of ROMs trying to find the one I liked haha. How much time and money went into this collection? It's very extensive and the diversity of the collection is something else. Do you collect the games just to collect them, in hopes of reselling them some day, or do you collect them to play them?

Nice. Great list. More than what I have, for sure. Tho, honestly, I haven't counted in a long time. I couldn't give you a ballpark number off hand. I'd have to take it out and go through them all. I only had so many, as a child. I got most of mine in the late 90's, from a place called Funcoland. I loved Funcoland. They were awesome for NES games, back then. It's a shame that they are all Gamestop's now. I miss Funcoland.

Anyways, back then, you could go into Funcoland, and find NES games from anywhere from $0.05 to $5.00. Or up to $10.00, for more rarer games. Most of the games I found there were in the $0.20 to $1.50 range. With some of the bigger, and/or harder to find, titles being higher priced. I used to go in there with $5 and come out with stacks of games. Good times. I miss those days. SNES and Genesis games were from $5 to $15 each. Those were the days. That is, until they turned into Gamestop's, and they decided to sell every single NES game for $5 each, regardless of what it was. I remember going into the Gamestop the first day it changed from Funcoland to Gamestop, and saw that everything went from $0.05 or $0.10 to a flat $5. I thought that was ridiculous. So I asked the store clerk about it, and he said that the $0.05 prices were Funcoland prices, and that their prices are $5 each. I told him that it was ridiculous, and that they wouldn't be able to sell them at that price. And the guy said, no, the old NES were selling extremely well for Funcoland, so they expect to get about the same amount of units sold. I told him, no way. Not at $5 a pop. They sold well because they were cheap, but fairly priced for what they were. He told me that they'd sell.

About a week later, I popped in there to get a new game that was coming out, and they were boxing up all of the NES and SNES/Genesis games (which had a flat $20 price tag now, by the way). And I asked about it, and they said that they weren't selling, so they decided to box them up and ship them back to the warehouse. I told them to lower the price back back to what Funcoland was selling them for, and they would sell again, as I know a bunch of people who were upset that they jacked the prices up, so they couldn't collect as many at a time as they could. I remember seeing a random stranger, several months earlier, walk out with over 60 NES games, stuffed into two big bags. And he only paid around $20 or $25 total, for everything. He was so excited over it. But now, they were packing them up and shipping them back, and told us to go to the Funcoland website and buy them there. So that day, I went to the Funcoland website, which I had never thought of doing before that, as I always just went to the store, and I found that the website prices were as bad, or worse, than what Gamestop was selling them for. I thought, wow, that's crazy. In store, they used to be cheap. But online, they were expensive. That's insane. Never bothered with Funcoland again, and never bout an NES game again. Still, I have a fairly good collection myself. It's not completely, nor will it ever be. But I like what I have.

At the time, I didn't buy every game just to have it. I bought what I wanted. However, now, I wished I had just gotten one of everything. That was my fault, there. I had the opportunity. But I also didn't expect them to make that switch so suddenly, either. But, at the time, I was in high school, with no job. So I didn't have money to be buying random games all of the time. Especially when there were newer games coming out that I wanted. So I was slowly picking at the NES library. Then, one day, poof.. gone. Oh well. Live and learn. Tho, if it was now a days, I would of done what that one guy did, and just bought two big bags full of games too, for that price. But I was a no job high school kid at time, who was more focused on the newer games, than the nostalgic ones.

Anyways, congrats on your collection. Good luck on trying to get more. The more the merrier, I say.

Agreed about Funcoland. I have very fond memories of that place. And their employees didn't smell as bad as the Gamestop employees do.

Yeah, Funcoland was awesome. I loved those newspapers that they used to have, with the current prices of video games. Those were great. Towards the end, before they turned Funcoland into Gamestops, they finally stopped printing the newspapers. Which just listed every game for every console, and how much they were worth. I would go into the store, and pick up like 10 or 15 newspapers, and then pass them out to my friends, ever month. They used to print them up weekly. Then, it went to bi-weekly. Then, they went to monthly. Then, they finally just stopped printing them all together. The manager said that it just got too expensive. Especially since they were just giving them away for free, and encouraged people to take as many as they wanted. I loved, every few months, just going through one, and highlighting all of the games that I owned, and then adding up all of the value amounts, to see how much my collection was worth in "today's market" (at the time, of course). It was always interesting to see the value of my collection fluctuate up and down, over time. Some games, especially the NES games, getting really, really cheap, while some raised in price. I loved getting those newspapers. I miss them, to be honest. They may not have been 100% accurate, but they were fun to get a rough idea of the value of certain games. And it was surprising to see which games started to get a raise in value, while others started to drop. Good times.

Anyways, I plan on going through my NES collection soon. It's not as big as this one, but it's still pretty decent, overall. Maybe later today, or perhaps tomorrow. But soon.

Wow, I had more than I thought that I had. It has been a long time since I've gone through my NES collection. Tho I can thank Funcoland for the vast majority of this collection. I had probably 30 or so games total, before they built a new Funcoland 2 blocks from me. So I picked up NES games there whenever I could. Glad I did before they all changed to Gamestops. However, anyways, with the new Nintendo Direct happening in less than hour, at 7am here, and me waking up early, I had some time to kill. So I rummaged through my NES collection, and decided to catalog what I have. And I found more than I was expecting. So it's been a pleasant morning, to say the least. Here is the list of my NES collection...

I don't have quite as many as you, NintendoCosmos, as you have 19 more games than me. However, I do have a lot more of the bigger, and more popular, titles than you do. However, once you finally get those, you'll be even more ahead of me. So kudos to you. Good luck on finding all of the games that you want, that you are still missing. I don't plan on upping my NES collection at this time. I might, later down the road. But for now, I'm pretty satisfied with what I have. Overall. I've definitely had my fun with it, over the years. And everything still works, too. So that's good. Even the console itself runs as smoothly as ever. Now, I just wish that I had one of those Funcoland newspaper things, that lists how much each game is worth on the current market. That would be great if they still made those. Oh well.

Anyways, there's my collection. Not quite as big as your, but definitely respectable on it's own. Good luck finding the rest of the games that you want. Hope you can find them all, for a reasonable price. I will never sell mine tho. I keep everything. I still have my Commodore 64 in full working order, that I have stored away too. I plan on keeping that for as long as I can too.

I collect them to play them. Most of the NES games I get are for free online.

You know something? I have never made a full list of my NES games. I think I might do that here. Just keep it as a reference point. I suppose I have yet to do it because I just feel like it's a daunting task.

rated R for Riduculous. good job, i wish i'd kept all my stuff. i was thinking about my power glove the other day

This is my old list. for NES games. I have a lot more now than I did when I posted this up.

My NES game list was just updated for this thread. This is how mnay NES games I own as of this date on 4/1/2014: This is not a joke. I have all of this games on two different book shelves.

I gave my gold Zelda cart to my dog, but he refused to eat it--something about it being too rare or something.

I am truly green with jealousy seeing the impressive, extensive libraries of NES games people on this forum have!
