Renegade: The Gameplay is like Mario Combat

Hey guys, I would like to point out that the gameplay of Renegade will be based off of a Mario fighting game here, please check it out:

But the thing is that is it better to do pure 2d platforming or just isometric 2d platforming (Example of Isometric 2d game is Double Dragon I mean).
