Switch Switch Stick/Button Layout

I HATE that the joystick on the left controller is where the d-pad should be. Has anyone ever heard of a controller, official or otherwise, that has both thumbstick below the buttons where they belong ? Sony has them that way....why not Nintendo ? It is incredibly awkward.
