System Link was a form of chaining together two original XBox or I believe XBox 360 consoles together through Ethernet cable in order to share local multiplayer games over multiple screens. Unfortunately, the XBox One and PS4 were incable of doing this without some form of connecting both consoles to the internet and having PS+ or XBox Live on both system accounts and having to do it through a server.

The wonderful, easy System Link seems to have returned for a console with the Switch. In the presentation, they mentioned a form of what seems to be wireless, non-internet-based System Link, much like the DS family except now you can have multiple people on each system.

Assuming I explained this well... what are your thoughts on it?

I'm pretty sure the Gamecube could do it first. Not sure why you brought up System Link when we were already thinking of how 3DS consoles connect together.
