Wii U Use of a second gamepad?

So right now you can't even buy a second gamepad for the Wii U mostly for the fact there is no use for it, despite Nintendo saying they would make games that would make use of two gamepads.

But with another console over the horizon and the Wii U's time coming to a close, do you think they will still do this? Would you even fork out the money for another gamepad which would be far from reasonable to buy.
