I enjoy several genres such as 2D shmups (shoot 'em-ups), beat 'em-ups (belt scrollers such as Double Dragon), platformers and JRPGs. I also enjoy 3D action brawlers such as the Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden series. But my overall favorite genre is definitely the 2D shmup. It's one of the oldest and purest genres in gaming, lots of skill and memorization is required to get good enough to complete a shoot 'em-up without relying on continues.
