Why are there so many bots?

I don't know how sites keep bots out but this forum has a serious issue with them

There is no foolproof solution against spambots, every social network has this problem. It's a game of cat and mouse, we implement new measures all the time and eventually they find a way in. If something is profitable, people will find a way to circumvent measures.
