Switch Wireless Controller connects to Switch Lite but won't connect to Switch

I bought a Switch Lite a couple of months ago and had it paired with a wireless Controller. Works perfectly.
Today I got myself a Nintendo Switch. The same Controller will not connect to this new Switch.
Why is that?
This Controller is supposed to be compatible with both the Switch and Switch Lite.
